Any new motorway or arterial lanes must be Bus and T3
Everyone knows adding more lanes will never 'solve' congestion, but just moves and makes the problems worse elsewhere.
We've gone from 2 to 3 lanes, and now going to 4 or 5 in each direction in places. The real problem is the lack of space and small number of people each vehicle is moving. The obvious solution is to only add 'high density' lanes for any new additions and look at converting existing 'fast lanes' for peak-time Bus and T3 use only.

Smart Grid. By investing in planning and collaboration with projects in Europe and the US.
Rising crude oil prices and insecurity of supply are likely to accelerate introduction of electric cars and plug-in hybrids on Auckland roads. Technical and financial planning is required to build a recharging infrastructure that is integrated into a Smart Grid allowing owners of EVs to buy & sell power from any public recharging unit. Auckland can reduce the recessionary impact of ultra-expensive and/or scarce petrol by developing detailed plans now that can be launched as projects quickly when they are needed.
